2. A special skill I have.

19/09/2021, 19:52 - 20:07.

I don't think I'm someone with lots of amazing skills. Sure, I have a good English level, I'm a saxophone player, I can crochet (kind of), I can cook (kind of) and I can do lots of things, but I don't see myself as a skilful person. Still, I'm happy to dabble on many diverse things. As they say, "jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one."

Even though I'm no master at it, I think my favourite skill out of all the shallow ones I have is crafting. My mother has always worked with children, so I grew up with her and her crafts: from drawing and colouring masks to sewing puppets and dyeing t-shirts. I've always specially loved anything and everything than involves working with paper, like doing origami, making handmade stickers or a collage. I'm now refining my bookbinding technique, on a very simple level of course. I love making pocket-sized notebooks with colorful covers and special details, like pockets inside the back covers, ribbon bookmarks or little paper locks to keep them closed.

There's something about working with paper that calms me, something about the repetitive motions of folding and cutting as folding again that brings me peace of mind for some moments. It feels therapeutic, doing such a beloved activity and seeing the product of it as something that I can use, or that I can gift to a friend, which I usually do. It may not be a skill that will grant me a job, but it sure is special to me.
