5. My favourite sport to watch.

23/09/2021, 19:48 - 20:09.

I’m not the kind of person that is always following a certain sport on TV. However, this changes when we reach a certain season, every four years, and then no one can pry me away from my seat in front of the screen.

My obsession with the Olympic Games is very unusual, since the only sports I like to play myself are volleyball and badminton, but the Games are such a huge and international event that I can’t help but feel drawn to them. These sportspeople are the strongest, fastest and most agile in the world, and watching them is an amazing spectacle in itself. Seeing all those incredible athletes perform such feats is exciting in a hopeful way, and it makes me feel connected to humanity as a whole: thousands of athletes from all over the globe meet there and play as equals, and even though it is a competition you can see that they are all in friendship, sharing their cultural differences and having fun while doing what they love.

The fact that the 2020 Olympics were delayed a year filled me with sadness, and even in 2021 it was devastating to see empty seats instead of a supportive and roaring audience. I am now looking forward to the 2024 Olympics in Paris, as my greatest wish would be, when time comes, to be among their audience.
