Practice 1: Narrowing the topic and brainstorming ideas.

TECHNOLOGY AND PARTIES (Narrowing):

MULTICULTURALISM (Freewriting): Cultural erasure

Multiculturalism is particularly present in our society nowadays. However, years ago it was usual even for the government to suppress or segregate the population based on their cultural identity. We have many recent examples of this in the last two hundred years, both abroad and in Spain. Slavery and the segregation of black people and other minorities in the United States are probably the biggest historical tragedies of said country. We also know of the oppression of the Irish people back when they were part of the British Empire, which caused the Irish language to almost go extinct, and something similar happened in Spain during Franco’s dictatorship with languages like Catalan, Basque and Galician.

SHORT STORIES (Asking questions):

· WHEN? Short stories have always been a popular format, but nowadays they’re even more so.

· WHO? They are written by both professional authors and beginners who are looking for some experience.

· WHERE? Thanks to the internet, anyone can self-publish their short stories.

· WHY? HOW? Short stories are a good exercise for writers to practice their storytelling skills and may serve as an inspiration for longer stories, maybe even full novels.

CINEMA (Cubing): Book adaptations

· DESCRIBING: book adaptations, their popularity (Pride and Prejudice, Little Women…)

· COMPARING: book vs film, staying true to the author vs adding/changing/removing content.

· ANALYZING: new elements add new dimensions, image and actors, sound and music.

· ASSOCIATING: TV series adaptations of books, more screen time means more accuracy?

· ARGUING: resorting to watching the film instead of reading the book.
